Watering a peace lily: Lightly moist, never waterlogged
Spathiphyllum wallisii
A peace lily prefers evenly and lightly moist soil. Water when the leaves begin to droop or the surface has dried, without leaving water in the cover pot.

- Water
- Check about every 5 days in summer and every 10 days in winter
- Light
- From low light to bright indirect light
- Humidity
- Medium to high
- Difficulty
- Easy
When does a peace lily need water?
Check the surface and the position of the leaves. When the soil has dried slightly, water thoroughly and let the pot drain. Drooping leaves can indicate thirst; yellow leaves in damp soil are more consistent with excess water.
Light and humidity
Filtered indirect light works well. Direct sun may cause brown patches. Brown tips are more common in dry air, so a naturally more humid room can be a better position.
Feeding and repotting
From March to September, monthly liquid feed is enough when used as directed. Pause in winter. Repot in spring when roots fill the pot or the substrate dries unusually quickly. Note that peace lilies are toxic to cats and dogs.
Every home and every plant is different. Use these values as a starting point and always check the soil and the plant itself.
